Foundation of France

First inhabitants in Paris area lived next to Seine's river, in a settlement located in the now called Bercy in the IV millenium BC. Lot of people think that this people can't be called the real founders of Paris, because the first people in living in the center of Paris were a celtic tribe called the Parisii.
Later, Romans started inhabitating the area and founded a real city on the place known as "L'île de la Cité". In that moment, Romans called it Lutetia, which were constatly attacked by barbarians, Huns and Franks. That's why romans built a defensive wall to make Paris protection easier. Romans also made Paris grow a lot by Romanising it, althought they also Christianised it. Some years later, Lutetia changed his name to Paris, but still with and old name or with a new one, it were again attacked by barbarians.
They made Paris weaker, so Attila the Hun had it easy for invading the city. Some legends say that Saint Geniviève prayed to make Attila go out, and the legends also say that his pray were succesful. But not as succesful as they believe, because Franks took advantage to attack and invaded the city about ten years later. Some time later, Paris suffered a enormous fire. It wasn't certainly bad for it, because it made Paris evolve.
